For all those aspiring to become social media gurus look no further! I am here to give you a crash course in the Do's and Don'ts of posting on social media.
First Identify Your Platform
Knowing where you're posting and what kind of audience you're speaking to is very important!
Platforms such as Twitter or Facebook engage with users using specific and tailored content!
Knowing where your content thrives is crucial in best engaging with your followers and friends.
Once you know where you want to post let's get into how to engage with your audience!

Do- Activate your pages Facebook Analytics
Depending on your account you can see many page tracking data that can tell you information such as how many people have viewed your page, and how they interacted with you!
Do- Keep your content relevant and within 40 -100 characters
Facebook is a great platform to share your thoughts and feelings, however be mindful of what content interests your users and try to make that content as concise as possible!

Do- Take advantage of this platform to keep your audience in the know with real time posting and updates
Twitter is an excellent platform for keeping your audience updated with information in a very concise manner.
Do- Look up popular hashtags for both your content and audience
If you are posting with Twitter, keep in mind what might be top hashtags such as #EarthDay,#NewMusic, or #HappyHolidays that can connect your current audience with others who might enjoy your content and potentially help you reach these new followers!

Don't- Merge professional and personal profiles
I know it may be tempting, but in merging these two separate types of platforms, your friends and followers can become confused on what information they are recieving from your page!
Don't- Overshare
As tempting as it is to share all your life updates and thoughts on Facebook, it can dilute the meaningfulness of your content.
Don't- Post content at 3am
Understanding when your audience is online is key in getting the most out of your posting, if they aren't online within an hour of your post they more than likely won't see it.
Don't- Go Hashtag Crazy
Hashtags are a great resource to keep your current and potential audience connected, however when 20+ hashtags are used, the intended audience may become vague, and your post may look cluttered.
I hope that these few tips and tricks, help you in the process of becoming the social media guru that you aspire to be. To get more tips and tricks on how to best leverage social media, subscribe and tune in every Wednesday for Whats The Talk updates!
